What Is Chia Good For?

Gregg Carroll - Friday, April 05, 2013

Chia is a staple food of ancient Aztecs and Mayans, they are rich in omega-3 fatty acids, and minerals like calcium, phosphorus and magnesium. Three good reasons to include chia in your diet apart from its rich omega- 3 profile:

1. Improved insulin sensitivity & glucose tolerance

2. High antioxidant activity

3. Potent anti-inflammatory effects

Sprinkle seeds whole or ground on cereal, in yogurt or on salads, or grind and mix them with flour when baking. Chia can also be soaked in water, fruit juice, milk, stock, gravies, nut milk, vegetable juice etc. Chia seeds have the tendency to absorb the flavor of any liquid it is soaked in, yielding some interesting flavors. Enjoy great health with wise dietary choices!
