Amaranth, like buckwheat and quinoa, contain protein that is unusually complete for a plant source, having a greater protein content than that of wheat. Sprouted unrefined whole grains can have 4x the amount of niacin, 2x the amount of B6 and folate, more protein and fewer starches than unsprouted grains. The American Heart Assn. recommends high fiber whole grains to decrease harmful cholesterol levels.
Ingredients: Premium, organic, raw, sprouted, stone ground amaranth.
About Our Flour of Life™ Product Line
Sprouting improves the digestibility of the nutrients in grains, nuts and seeds. The sprouting process (soaking, rinsing and germination) changes the composition of grains with beneficial results for your health.
Enzymes that aid digestion and deactivate aflatoxins (carcinogens) are produced in the process. Sprouting also produces Vitamins C and B (B2, B5 and B6) while increasing carotene.
Importantly, the process reduces or removes phytic acid This substance, by binding with minerals, inhibits the body's ability to absorb essential nutrients. Overall, sprouting provides access to the live, energizing phytonutrients available in grains.
High in fiber, the American Heart Association recommends adding whole grains to your diet to decrease harmful cholesterol levels.
We stone-grind all of our flours. It takes a bit longer, but we believe it produces a superior product than other grinding methods that use metal and often produce heat which can degrade delicate oils and nutrients.
