Sesame seeds are more than a garnish for bagels-- they’re a treasure trove of nutrients that strengthen skin, bones, and the immune system. Our raw, organic black sesame seeds are high in vitamin E, calcium, iron, and magnesium, and they’re also a good source of zinc, Vitamin B1, molybdenum, selenium, copper, and manganese. Like many nuts and seeds, they contain phytosterols, which are proven to lower blood cholesterol levels-- but unique to sesame seeds is sesamol, a powerful antioxidant.

Black sesame seeds have a nuttier, slightly smokier flavor than white. Sure, go ahead and use them as a garnish if you must, but don’t be afraid to think outside the bagel. Sprinkle them into granola and smoothies, grind them into an earthy sesame salt, or use them in raw or baked treats from soft-serve to fresh bread.

Our Better Than Roasted (BTR) sprouting process maximizes the bioavailability of essential vitamins, minerals, and nutrients in our sesame seeds. It also removes bitterness and concentrates flavor, yielding a sweeter, more easily digestible, and more flavorful seed. Read more about our BTR process HERE.

FUN FACT! Traditional Chinese medicine considers black sesame seeds good for hair health and overall body strength. Sweet black sesame soup is a popular breakfast in China.
